Some people collect stamps or vintage cars or barbie doll heads.

You are not one of those people.

Through your (shady) network of connections, you collect creatures that are considered oddities.  Some may even think they don't exist.  They would be wrong, and you've got the displays to prove it.

You also throw some rather unusual dinner parties.

CURIO is a solo journaling RPG where you take the role of a shadowy collector, purchasing mythological beasts, and choosing whether to display them or to do...other things with them.  (Not sex stuff.  I mean, it's your journal game, but...)

Included in this download is the three-page rules and how-tos (and at least one leprechaun), and a 4x6 printable recipe card if you want to take things just one step too far.  (That's where the fun is, though, right?)

Created for ell0's Menu TTRPG jam.  The entire look/feel is from the physical menus at Curio Bar in San Francisco, which is graciously shared by Art of the Menu.

note: This is my first game.  There are bound to be issues, since there's a lot I don't know yet.  (There are things that I don't even know that I don't know, most likely.)  Please be kind, as my ego is smooshy and spreads well on toast.

You are a collector of the fantastical and the extraordinary. But first you must procure your goods, and when you do, decide what it is you will do with them.

This is a fantastical, and slightly absurd game about spending your $25 million dollars on magical creatures and either selling them, or cooking them up for an imitate dinner party.

You start by receiving a call from a potential buyer, rolling to see what they have, then rolling to see how much they are selling it for. If you buy it, you then decide if you wish to re-sell it, or have it for dinner.

If you decide to resell it, you must first write an ad copy, then roll to see if anyone is interested.

Once you have run out of money, or creatures to buy, you have your party, which you must roll for the guests, and then write down exactly what you had for dinner and it's accompanying recipe.

I ended up buying 4 creatures, was unable to sell any of them, but then had 3 of them for dinner! You can read my playthrough HERE

You are my new favorite person.  Also, I'm kind of craving gazpacho now.

This looks fun. I must admit I'm tempted to apply this to Pokemon using a Pokemon randomizer

That would be kind of...awesome. :D

This is so clever and fun and unique and awesome. It's one of those things that only an indie creator can make, in the very best of ways. And omg if I could just eat all of the junk in this house to get rid of it... 🍽️

Seriously, this is amazing and stylish and fun and clever and UNIQUE AS HECK. And fantastic!
